Noteworthy entrepreneur Olga Boiko has put her Golden Gate University education to beneficial use. She is the founder and owner of CoffeeShop with two locations in San Francisco.
Olga’s GGU journey began when she relocated to the United States from her native Ukraine in the summer of 2008. With a bevy of college courses and credits under her belt already, she sought an institution where she could pick up where she left off and complete her four-year degree. GGU proved to be her best option, and in 2009, she embarked on her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business. Olga completed her degree in 2013.
In 2012, Olga and her husband decided to try their hands at entrepreneurship by starting their own small business, CoffeeShop. With the first of two children on the way, they opened their first location on Mission Street in a 200-square-foot space next to a new dispensary. Community feedback had revealed a desire for a family-friendly retail business to accompany the dispensary, and CoffeeShop fit the bill perfectly. Between their new baby, the business, and going to school, life was busy for Olga. As she points out, though, the flexibility afforded by GGU’s online instruction as well as its vast network of resources helped her to remain involved and accomplish everything she needed to be successful.
Olga developed her philosophy of organic business growth and sustainability during her studies at GGU. Following five years of successfully operating her business, Olga opened her second location on 21st Street. CoffeeShop Roastery+Bakery is also a nano-roaster, roasting its own beans in small batches with zero-emissions as well as a bakery making delectable pastries to go along with their delicious coffee.
