Bridge Society Breakfast Honors Impact of Planned Giving

On Wednesday, December 7, GGU hosted a special breakfast for members of the Bridge Society, a society to celebrate benefactors who have included GGU in their estate plans. Estate gifts make a lasting and transformative impact at the university. The 2022 Bridge Society event was a breakfast held at the St. Francis Yacht Club located on the shores of the San Francisco Bay that boasts panoramic views that span from the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz Island.

Every attendee received a small gift and the latest alumni newsletter, highlights about GGU, and information about planned giving. After enjoying breakfast, Bridge Society members including several members of the Board of Trustees, and Deans heard inspiring remarks from President David J. Fike, Provost Brent White, and Vice President for University Advancement Henry Taylor.

For more than 120 years, the university has offered innovative and practical educational programs that advance the careers of working adults through flexible course formats and personalized pathways to in-demand credentials. Those speakers highlighted new bold initiatives that expand upon our mission of access by providing affordable access to higher education to students around the world.

“Today, I’m pleased to say, GGU is exhibiting extraordinary innovation. We are now offering high-quality programs at tuition rates that help our students avoid crushing debt burdens—both nationally and internationally—on a significant and game-changing scale,” explained President Fike. “Additionally, we are launching the GGU INSOFE Institute of Technology, a school of emerging technology, with an online and physical presence worldwide. These tremendous initiatives extend our proud legacy and history of affordability and access.”

Provost Brent White took the stage to elaborate on the new initiatives underway at GGU. “Our new international programs in partnership with upGrad are based in our roots of educating students globally. I feel extraordinarily blessed to be part of this historic institution with an impressive history of providing access and opportunity to students regardless of their circumstances in life.” said Provost White.

“GGU is doing tremendous things that reinforce our history and legacy of affordability and access,” commented VP Taylor. “The importance of philanthropy is not only critical to the university’s present, but its future as well.”

Bridge Society members are among the most dedicated and generous supporters of GGU’s mission and impact. Gifts provided through estates and retirement plans contribute directly to the life-changing preparation that enables our students to live their academic and career dreams. There are more than 150 Bridge Society members who enjoy customized updates and access to invitation-only events that keep them connected to GGU.

Next year’s Bridge Society event will return to its traditional luncheon format and is scheduled for early December at the popular St. Francis Yacht Club.
