GGU Leadership Team Praised By Accreditation Organization

:::

On November 8-10, GGU hosted a successful special site visit from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) to review GGU’s progress on addressing recommendations WSCUC issued after their April 2021 visit. The university spent the past year and a half preparing for this important visit.

The WASC team met with specific university departments and held open meetings with students, staff, and faculty to provide an opportunity for informal input from all members of the community regarding our progress in addressing WASC’s recommendations.

During the exit meeting with the GGU community, the WASC team expressed gratitude to GGU for hosting a smooth, well-organized visit and for making the team feel so welcome. The team provided five commendations and five recommendations to the university and outlined next steps.

The commendations acknowledged GGU’s dramatic improvement in the areas of shared governance and communication practices with more people feeling heard, more leaders willing to share information, and greater efforts to foster a culture of collaboration that has had a dramatic and positive impact. The university was also praised for the confidence—that permeates the campus communityin the new leadership team, university spending, and a new vision for mission-driven growth.

“I could not be prouder of the work that you all have done leading up to this visit and the work you have done over the past year and a half,” said President Fike, addressing GGU faculty and staff at the exit meeting. “The WASC team was able to experience the amount of effort, deep professionalism, genuine enthusiasm, and confidence you have in GGU and where we are going.“
